Hebridean Sea Scapes
The Atlantic Ocean has shaped the Western Isles and its people. Murdo has spent years capturing the magnificent seascapes of the Hebrides, seen at their best on the West coast of Lewis and Harris. His seascapes, all painted in the open air, reflect the changing nature of the sea and shore - one day bleak and majestic, the next bright and tranquil.
Apart from his acclaimed seascape paintings of the Western Isles, Murdo has also painted in the Inner Hebrides, where his paintings of Iona have drawn comparison to the works of the Scottish colourists.
Apart from his original paintings, one of Murdo's best-known views - of Bosta, Bernera on the West coast of Lewis - is also available as a limited edition print named 'Islands in the West'.
